Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. GregorySokirinskywas born on April 30, 1900 in Belousovka village near Vinnitsa. In 1918 he enrolled in Kamenetz-Podolsk Art School, but due to lack of funds was not able to finish studies.
From 1923 to 1930 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute. His teachers were N.G.Burachek, F.G.Krichevsky, G.S. Tatlin.
After graduation he worked as ascene-designer in Kiev Theater named after Ivan Franko, the main artist of the Tiraspol Dramatic Theatre.
Sokirinsky G. made its debut at the exhibition of paintings, drawings and sculptures dedicated to the heroic Spain, opening on May 6, 1937 in Kharkov, in the halls of the State Ukrainian Art Gallery, and then exhibited in Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa. Since that time –the participant of the republican art exhibitions, and since 1954 - All-Union art exhibitions.
Member of the USSR Union of Artists. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics.
Sokirinsky G. is best known as a prominent watercolorist. His watercolors are flawless on the artistic level. They are included in the treasury of Russian fine art.
The artist's works are kept in museums of Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Ulyanovsk, Zaporozhye, Simferopol, in the National Gallery named after Ivan Aivazovsky, in galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
