The Cold Mountain. The To-do list project took place at Nebo Art Gallery from December 14, 2017, to January 14, 2018.
“When people talk about development, they mean moving up, just as climbing a mountain. Although, a contemporary pace of life makes us have plenty of goals: for a day, a week, a month, a year. It’s as if we live in a fairytale, where we need to climb a crystal mountain to be happy. The beginning of a new year is often a special milestone. We necessarily try to draw the line under a passing year and look back with a question about what we have managed to do or have not. Thus, we find ourselves facing a new mountain or mountain ridge. They are cold and endless but tempt us to move forward. Everyone has their own mountains, with different heights and structures. As in any inception, the most important thing is to make the first move. As well as the second, the third, the tenth one. Meanwhile, when you are trying to climb, you feel alive,” Romana Ruban said.
First of all, this series of artworks is an attempt to show the absurdity of the processes that direct people in their routine life. The contemplation and pleasure in the process replace self-flagellation because of every fault and inaccuracy. The artist offers to us to accept our imperfection and inability to achieve all goals immediately.
